The Challenge
Replacing Legacy Power Infrastructure
MTN Côte d’Ivoire’s Yamoussoukro and Yopougon data centers were operating with rectifiers and rectiverters that had been in service for more than 15 years, with spare parts no longer available. Existing capacity was increasingly constrained, while aging batteries provided insufficient backup autonomy. Equipment congestion in the power rooms further limited available space for future infrastructure and complicated maintenance activities.
The Solution
High-Capacity Power Modernization
IPT PowerTech modernized the AC and DC power infrastructure across the two data centers with new-generation Eltek systems designed to increase capacity, improve maintainability, and optimize the available power-room footprint. On the DC side, the deployment includes 2 × Eltek DPS 3000B-48-48 CABD 3000 rectifiers, providing a combined 5,000 A capacity. The AC infrastructure was upgraded with 2 × Eltek RVS2 3S400V+N 90 kVA / 72 kW rectiverters. Battery backup was modernized through 64 lithium batteries rated at 150 Ah each, providing a combined 9,600 Ah capacity. The solution also incorporates real-time equipment monitoring, enabling visibility into system performance and operational status. The architecture provides additional capacity while consolidating the power infrastructure and freeing valuable space within the equipment rooms.
Results
Higher Capacity, Better Visibility
The modernization increased both AC and DC power capacity at the MTN Yamoussoukro and Yopougon Data Centers, while replacing obsolete equipment with current-generation power systems. The new lithium battery infrastructure improves backup capability, while the redesigned architecture reduces congestion within the power rooms and creates additional space for future requirements. Real-time equipment monitoring also provides greater operational visibility, supporting proactive management and maintenance of critical data center power infrastructure.
