Zain Iraq HQ Data Center Achieves Tier III Certification of Design Documents
The award was confirmed by Uptime Institute Professional Services. It places the facility among an exclusive group of data centers worldwide whose designs have been independently validated against the Uptime Institute Tier Standard. As digital services across Iraq continue to expand, data center infrastructure must be built for more than capacity. It must be designed for continuity, maintainability, visibility and long-term resilience. This certification confirms that the Zain Iraq HQ Data Center design meets that bar.

What the Tier III Certification of Design Documents means
The Tier III Certification of Design Documents confirms that a facility's design meets the Tier III requirements of the Uptime Institute Tier Standard. Uptime Institute's experts review the complete design package, including electrical, mechanical and supporting systems, against those requirements.
Tier III is defined as Concurrently Maintainable. Every component and distribution path that supports the IT equipment can be taken out of service for planned maintenance, replacement or upgrade without shutting down critical IT operations.
The Tier Certification of Design Documents is the first stage of Uptime Institute's Tier Certification process. It validates the design on paper before construction, so any gaps are resolved early, when they are least costly to fix.
Designed for continuity and visibility
The certified design brings together two capabilities that matter most to a telecom operator's core facility.
Planned maintenance without disruption. The design allows maintenance work to be carried out without interrupting critical IT operations, in line with the Tier III Concurrently Maintainable objective.
Real-time infrastructure monitoring. An integrated monitoring system gives operators live visibility across key parameters, including power, cooling and environmental conditions.
Together, these let the operations team plan maintenance with confidence and spot developing issues early, while services keep running for Zain Iraq's customers.
Why it matters for Iraq's digital future
Mobile connectivity, digital payments, cloud services and e-government all depend on data centers built to recognized global standards. A Tier III design certification gives operators, enterprise customers and partners an independent benchmark for how a facility has been engineered.
For Zain Iraq, the certification marks an important milestone in developing dependable critical infrastructure in Baghdad. It strengthens the foundation for the digital services that millions of subscribers and businesses across the country rely on.
IPT PowerTech's commitment to resilient infrastructure
For IPT PowerTech Group, this milestone reflects a continued commitment to delivering infrastructure that helps telecom operators strengthen operational reliability and support the growing demands of digital connectivity.
The project builds on IPT PowerTech's experience powering critical sites for operators across the Middle East and Africa. Recent work includes modernizing data center power infrastructure for MTN Côte d'Ivoire and solarizing 23 data centers for MTN South Africa.
Looking ahead
With the design now certified, the Zain Iraq HQ Data Center joins Uptime Institute's global community of Tier Certified facilities. IPT PowerTech congratulates Zain Iraq and every team member, partner and stakeholder whose work made this achievement possible.
